How many times have you heard the saying: “Eat the rainbow” Too many right? Well… how many times have you actually ate the rainbow? Not so many probably…? Don’t worry! It’s never too late to start!

Let me start by telling you why this cliché saying is actually true...

First of all, who doesn’t like a colorful plate? It’s pretty, “instagramable”, and pleasant to the eye, which will provoke you to eat it even more. What many of you probably don’t know is that actually all of those pretty colors found in fruits and vegetables are called phytochemical. This is the way nature tags what should be the highlight of your meals.

Now you are probably wondering what are phytochemicals and why do we need them so much?

Phytochemicals are naturally occurring plant chemicals which provide color, odor, and flavor to our foods. Besides making your plates look pretty, they provide numerous benefits to our health by reducing the risk of developing several chronic diseases, such as, type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, obesity, heart disease, and several types of cancer.

Another important nutrient found in fruits and vegetables is fiber, which will help you with digestion, constipation, maintaining a healthy weight, bowel health, controlling blood sugar, and cholesterol levels.

I think we have enough reasons to believe why we should include more fruits and vegetables in our meals right? Now let me tell you the way I challenged my followers to do it, and the way I am challenging you to do it as well!

The color challenge consists of a 5-day challenge where you have to include at least one fruit or vegetable in your meals every day. Each day has a different color but the more colors your plate has, the better! And to challenge your body even more HIIT workouts are included every day!

So now that you have all the tools and information to become the best version of yourself… let’s go grocery shopping!
